Typewriter Supply Co is a specialized program proudly developed under the Toronto Typewriters umbrella — built for typewriter enthusiasts, by typewriter enthusiasts. With over 15 years of hands-on experience restoring, servicing, and designing for typewriters, our mission is to create the best supplies, tools, and parts for those who share our love of these timeless machines.
It all began nearly a decade ago with a unique challenge: crafting hundreds of one-of-a-kind ribbon spools by hand for the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) to use in their new ticket validation machines. From there, our passion spiraled into new territory — hand carving and shaping custom rubber feet from solid blocks of rubber, designing spools for smaller machines, and producing precision feed rollers to breathe new life into dead machines. Each project taught us something new about materials, fit, and durability.
We spent years experimenting with mold making, tooling, and injection molding — creating dozens of prototypes through trial and error, testing various hardness levels (shoreness) and materials to achieve the perfect result. That relentless curiosity and commitment to quality eventually shaped our focus: the design and production of technically perfect, replicable parts — especially those that no one else had attempted to reproduce.
Only in the past several months have we begun to see others replicate the innovations we pioneered. Yet, our drive remains the same: to keep pushing boundaries, developing unique, inspiring, and attainable solutions for ribbons, spools, tools, and parts — keeping typewriters alive and performing beautifully for generations to come.
